RULES OF THE DAY
All Members must individually be in possession of their own Third Party Public Liability Insurance
to a minimum of £5 million cover.
All Members who are British citizens must be in possession of a valid British Shotgun Certificate
which must be carried at all times. Foreign nationals should hold a valid UK Visitors Shotgun Permit
which must be carried at all times.
Each Member must conduct his/herself at all time in accordance with accepted best practice.
Currently this is taken as the BASC Shotgun Code of Practice.
All shotguns must be unloaded and in gun slips during transport to and from drives.
The drive will start when all Members and loaders are at their designated pegs unless otherwise advised.
No Member should leave their designated peg or release a dog until the end of the drive unless
instructed or invited to do so by the Club or Estate’s representative.
The drive will end after a horn or whistle.
No ground game is to be shot.
All Members should ensure they familiarise themselves with position of stops, flankers and
pickers-up in relation to their designated peg, at all times.
REMEMBER YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE EVERY TIME YOU FIRE. IF IN DOUBT DO NOT SHOOT.
Dangerous and un-sporting shooting will not be tolerated and the Member responsible will be
asked to refrain from shooting or will have to leave.
The responsibility for the shotgun throughout the whole day rests solely in the hands of the Member.
Shotguns should not be left unattended at any time.
SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT TO AN ENJOYABLE DAY.
